The Boudoir Photography Process at Lucidaré Studio

If you’ve recently booked a boudoir photography session with us, you may be a bit curious about our process and what you can expect. While our lead photographer, Melissa, will have an in-depth phone conversation with you about your shoot prior to your scheduled date, we understand it’s nice to have something you can reference whenever you need to.

Here’s how our boudoir shoots typically go:

On the day of your shoot, we ask that you arrive around 10 minutes early. This way we can get you familiar with the studio and let you settle in. If you’ve purchased hair and makeup services, we’ll head straight to the beauty room and begin making you up. Hair and makeup typically takes around one hour from start to finish, and during this time we’ll discuss the strategy for your particular shoot, address any concerns, as well as flesh out your outfits and the order in which we’ll shoot them.

Once your makeup is done (or if you did not purchase hair and makeup), we’ll leave the room and allow you to get dressed in privacy in your first outfit. Once you’re dressed, you’re more than welcome to use one of the robes we provide to all our clients to cover up as you make your way into the studio.

Depending on the package you selected, we’ll break up your shoot time accordingly. If you chose the Classic package, we’ll shoot for about 30-40 minutes in your outfit and then finish the hour with the “Between the Sheets” session. If you chose the Premiere package, we’ll do about an hour in your favorite outfit, 30-40 minutes in your second outfit, and then finish out the second hour with the “Between the Sheets” session. Please keep in mind, the “Between the Sheets” look is completely optional. If you’d prefer to use your full session for the outfit(s) you brought, that is perfectly acceptable.

Once your shoot wraps up we’ll wait for you to get dressed, show you a couple of our favorite shots straight from the camera, answer any questions you may have, and then send you on your way. Typically, Melissa will have your images edited within 8-10 business days, which you’ll receive in a private, password protected online proofing gallery. You’ll be able to select your favorite images from the gallery and Melissa will provide you with the non-watermarked, high quality digital files. From that point, you can do whatever you wish with your images, whether it be having them printed or gifting them digitally.
